Squawk Shop isn’t some giant pet company trying to figure out parrots.
We live with them. We love them. And, like you, our lives have been completely taken over by them.
Our story really begins with one very opinionated African Grey named Gizmo.

Meet Gizmo, our CEO
The African Grey behind the squawk. Gizmo isn’t just the face of Squawk Shop — he’s family, our inspiration, and the reason so much of what we do revolves around giving parrots the incredible lives they deserve.
And his story is where ours really begins.
Before becoming the feathered personality so many people know today, Gizmo had a very different life.
He spent much of his first 16 years living in a cage before eventually becoming part of our family.
Giving Gizmo the freedom to explore, play, climb, learn and simply be a parrot completely changed the way we thought about life with birds.
And Gizmo changed us, too.
His enormous personality eventually found its way onto social media, where his conversations, antics and very strong opinions helped build a community of millions of people who fell in love with him — and, for many, with parrots themselves.
But behind all the laughs was something we cared deeply about:
Parrots deserve incredible lives.
And then came Squawk Shop.
Living with parrots teaches you pretty quickly that shopping for them isn’t always easy.
Is this toy actually appropriate for my bird?
Is this cage big enough?
What size perch do I need?
Will my bird even use this thing I just spent $40 on? 😅
We knew those questions because we were asking them too.
So we started building the kind of parrot store we wanted to shop at ourselves.
A place where finding the right products is easier, where enrichment matters, where you can ask a real person for help, and where the people behind the store actually understand what it’s like to share your home with a tiny feathered dinosaur.
That became Squawk Shop.
You’re part of this flock, too.
Squawk Shop may have started with our birds, but we’re building it for yours.

We’re building a community where parrot people can learn, discover better products, share their birds, ask questions and know there are actual humans on the other side who understand.

Every purchase helps the birds still waiting
Working with Bird Guardians has shown us the other side of the story. Millions of parrots live in captivity, and the rescues that take in the Gizmos of the world are under more pressure every year.
So a share of every purchase goes to Squawk Global’s rescue work: better cages, toys and treats for rescue centres, and the Parrot Data Index, our project to track the birds currently in the rescue system so that lawmakers have real numbers when they write the rules.
