Not Sure Which Size to Choose?

Floor Stands: Tree IDs ending in S, M, or L primarily describe branch sizing. S is generally for smaller parrots, M for medium-to-large parrots, and L is the best starting point when shopping for large macaws.

Tabletop Stands: Small, Medium, Large, and XL describe the overall dimensions of the stand, not branch thickness or guaranteed bird suitability.

Always review the individual Tree ID's photos and measurements. If your bird needs a specific branch thickness, contact us before ordering.

The Squawk Shop Java Tree Guide

A Natural Place to Play.

Everything you need to know about choosing and enjoying a Java Tree.

Natural Wood Benefits Climbing, balancing and exploring

Every Java Tree has its own natural branches, angles, and perch diameters. This variety provides opportunities for climbing, movement, exploration, and foot exercise.

  • Varied perching surfaces encourage natural movement.
  • Multiple branch positions give birds places to explore.
  • A dedicated stand creates another supervised activity area outside the cage.
Floor Stand vs. Tabletop Find the setup that fits your space

Floor Stands are standalone play areas with a wheeled base for easier repositioning. They can provide larger climbing arrangements depending on the tree.

Tabletop Stands bring natural branches to a sturdy, appropriately sized surface. Check the stand's base dimensions and available clearance.

For either option, consider your bird's species, branch thickness, available room, and supervision.

Finding the Right Fit Branch thickness and individual Tree IDs

With natural wood, no two branch layouts are identical. A good match depends on more than the overall stand size.

  • Compare branch thickness and spacing.
  • Check the individual tree's overall dimensions and base size.
  • Consider your bird's size, mobility, and preferred activities.
  • For macaws, start by reviewing L-designated floor trees and ask us to confirm suitability.
Java Tree Care Keep your bird's play area fresh

Natural wood benefits from regular inspection and gentle care.

  • Remove droppings and debris regularly.
  • Use bird-appropriate cleaning methods and avoid harsh scented chemicals.
  • Don't leave wood persistently damp; allow cleaned surfaces to dry thoroughly.
  • Inspect branches, joints, bases, and hardware for wear or damage.

Natural grain, color, and minor markings vary from tree to tree. If you notice a potentially structural crack or unstable branch, stop using the stand until it is assessed.
